Bat Removal

Although bats are often mislabeled as "pests", many species help reduce the mosquito population through consumption and some pollenate plants. That said, bats pose two dangers to people. Guano, or bat droppings, contains a fungus that is harmful to human lungs and can cause a condition known as histoplasmosis, which is fatal. Some bats even carry the rabies virus.

As a result, due to the health risks posed by having bats around, home and business owners should take steps to relocate them from their property. Because they are federally protected, bats cannot be eliminated but can be removed or "scared away". Then, preventive measures may be taken to close any holes around dwellings or businesses to keep them from roosting again.
